Pre Sedation Information

Instructions to be followed BEFORE your appointment

Things you MUST NOT DO

  • DO NOT eat or drink anything for at least 6 hours before your appointment
  • DO NOT proceed with treatment if you have been unwell within 2 weeks of your appointment
  • DO NOT smoke for at least 24 hours before your appointment
  • DO NOT wear contact lenses to your appointment
  • DO NOT wear lipstick or nail polish to your appointment
  • DO NOT wear jewellery to your appointment

Things you MUST DO

  • DO continue to take your regular medication with a small sip of water, unless the sedationist advises otherwise
  • DO wear loose fitting and comfortable clothing
  • DO dress warmly in cold weather
  • DO brush your teeth thoroughly before your appointment

Post Sedation Information

Instructions to be followed AFTER your appointment

  • Rest for 24 hours after appointment
  • Eat light, easily digestible food for the remainder of the day
  • Do not drink alcohol for at least 24 hours after the appointment
  • Continue to take your regular medications after the appointment
  • Do not drive, operate machinery or make any important decisions on the same day as your sedation appointment
